Best K Beauty Cleanser For Sensitive Skin
I love the cleansing step of my K-beauty routine! There’s something about getting rid of the dirt and grime from the day that really helps me wind down at night, and as a morning cleaner, I also really enjoy the feeling of a clean desk after a maybe not-so-perfectly restful night.

A good cleanser can really make or break your skincare routine, and as someone with slightly neurotic skin when it comes to foaming cleansers, I’m always on the lookout for that elusive, perfect second-step cleanser.
I’ve been trying a lot of different K-beauty cleansers lately, so I felt it would be fun and hopefully helpful to share my current favorite Korean cleansers with you! All three are especially suitable for those of you with sensitive, acne-prone and oily to combination skin. Although, if you have normal to slightly dry skin and still struggle with breakouts, you can also get along well with these cleansers.

Since then, I’ve really never stopped loving Madagascar Centella Ampule Foam Cleanser, no matter what other Korean cleansers I’ve tried. I always go back to it when my skin feels bad but also needs a deep cleanse. This foaming cleanser uses very mild surfactants and is also fragrance free, which is important to many of you. Contains 33% soothing centella asiatica extract plus several other soothing plant extracts such as coptis japonica plus hydrating hyaluronic acid.

And that’s the thing about Centella Ampule Foam Cleanser: it’s so soothing and surprisingly hydrating! My skin feels super soft and overall very relaxed when I use it, no tightness or feeling like oils are being pulled from my barrier. It cleans thoroughly and yet leaves your skin barrier intact. I also feel it works well to calm the redness I often get from cleansing, especially now that allergy season is in full swing.
Oh, did I mention it’s also a very affordable Korean cleanser? You can usually find it on sale at Olive Young Global* (currently around $15) or Stylevana* and I can tell you from experience that a little goes a long way – a bottle will last you forever! A great second step cleanser choice for anyone with combination to oily and normal skin on the more sensitive side.
Of all the Korean cleansers I’m introducing to you today, the Fation Nosca9 Cleansing Gel is probably the least known outside of Korea. Which is strange because it’s a huge bestseller in Korea! Fation is a derma brand that belongs to the influential Dong-A-Pharm company and its products are specially formulated to respect and maintain the health of the skin barrier. The Nosca9 range has also been designed to help oily, acne-prone and sensitive skin, a notoriously demanding skin type.

It is a foaming cleansing gel that uses gentle surfactants and the key ingredient sodium heparin, which soothes, repels and has an anti-inflammatory effect. Now, the cleansing action is a bit more immersive and overall stronger than the Skin1004, so I would only recommend this gel cleanser to those of you with oilier skin. I usually take this when I want a really deep cleanse and right before my period when my skin is much oilier and feels “dirtier”.
The Nosca9 Cleansing Gel is still very gentle compared to other cleansers and I love how it really helps reduce excess oil and minimizes acne-causing bacteria. There’s a reason why it’s so popular in Korea! Just a heads up: the cleanser contains fragrant essential oils (bergamot and sage) and some ethanol. I still didn’t find it drying or irritating and I’m more than half way through the bottle already! This would also be a great cleanser choice for men as it is very refreshing and ‘unisex’.

I feel like I keep singing the praises of this powder wash and yet no one is paying attention?! How is this not already viral when it really is my favorite enzyme powder from Korea. This is probably one of the Korean cleansers I’ve been using the longest, I mean probably since 2021? This is also my second pack, plus I had a mini pack in some K-beauty box or other. So I’ve gone through a whole range of these little sachets and I’m still really loving the Juice to Cleanse Powder Wash.
I Reviewed 10 Cleansers So You Don’t Have To: The Best Cleanser For Sensitive Skin
Powder cleansers are fantastic Korean cleansers (the Japanese love them too!) as they offer a very gentle mechanical scrub without overly aggressive peeling or peeling of the skin. Essentially, you mix the powder from the bags with water to create a foamy paste, which you then gently massage into the skin as the second step of cleansing.
One of the reasons I like the Juice to Cleanse Powder Wash so much is that the grains are very soft and don’t feel abrasive on the skin. It melts into a very fine lather when mixed with water and I never feel any graininess on my skin after using the lather. Despite its softness, I notice a scrubbing sensation and I can see a difference after using it on my skin: it’s softer and smoother without being red or dehydrated.
Juice to Cleanse Powder Wash uses cornstarch and the papain enzyme as a cleansing agent, plus a range of antioxidants, ‘green’ extracts such as green tea, broccoli, avocado and cucumber. The powder is alcohol and fragrance free and works well for all skin types. Technically, you can use a powder wash daily, but I personally prefer to limit it to once a week at most. After all, it’s still a physical exfoliator and I already use chemical exfoliants, so I want to respect my skin’s barrier!
