What Do You Say When Someone Gives Birth

What Do You Say When Someone Gives Birth – I’m a worrier. I’ll be the first to admit it (well, my husband might be the first to talk about my anxiety, because it drives him crazy!). One of the biggest areas of fear in my life over the past 12 years has been childbirth. My first daughter was born at home, the birth was quite traumatic and I had severe complications after giving birth. The anxiety about baby number 2 didn’t really set in and we had a surprisingly peaceful birth. But number 3 was fast and furious, and was the most intense pain I had ever felt. After that, giving birth was a terrifying specter that haunted my mind ever since I got a positive pregnancy test. I almost feel as if I have developed a phobia about giving birth. It was so bad that when I was pregnant with my 4th child, my midwife suggested I consider a hospital birth and an epidural (we ended up having to go to the hospital because the baby wouldn’t grow). ). So what should mothers do when giving birth? is inevitable, and she’s scared? I can only tell you what helped me and what I wish I had done sooner.1. Talk to someone! I know I can share anything with my husband, but as a guy who has never given birth, I know it will be difficult for him to understand. So I talked to a good friend and found out that she had been struggling with quite a bit of the same problem. If I didn’t have a friend to talk to, I think counseling would be more appropriate. Please don’t hesitate to ask for help! Talking things out is an essential step to having a confident birth experience. And please, if you have severe anxiety or depression during pregnancy, seek professional care if you need it!2. Meditate on scripture. Remember that “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, of love, and of a sound mind” (2 Tim 1:7), and we are told to “capture every thought must hold fast” (2 Corinthians 10:5), I prayed for God to help me with my daily fears and worries. I also printed these bible verses and took them with me to the hospital for comfort during the birth:You can download printable versions here:Downloads3. Hypnosis. Now, this might strike you as a little strange. And I have to say that out of 5 births, I tried the entire Hypnobabies program for my 3 children and it didn’t work for me (which doesn’t mean it didn’t help). you, it just doesn’t work) it doesn’t work for me!). BUT a few things I learned from baby hypnosis were extremely helpful to me, so I wanted to share them with you: First, I took a hypnosis class that taught me “Breathing During Birth,” which was extremely helpful. same useful. If you’re afraid of tearing during labor and needing stitches (this happened to me with my first baby and I’ve feared it with every subsequent birth), feel equipped to gently push your baby. Baby going outside will help a lot. There are instructional videos on YouTube and I highly recommend practicing this before giving birth. Second, Hypnobabies are RELAXING. Their “Fear Clearing Session” helped me a lot with my previous three children, and so did “Visualizing Your Birth.” Third, (and most helpful to me), is the track “Happy Pregnancy Affirmations.” Hypnobabies explains that practicing negative thoughts is a bad habit and that we should practice happy, positive thoughts instead. Makes sense, right? When you’re worried, especially about a specific event, negative thoughts always seem to sneak up on you. Listening to “Happy Pregnancy Affirmations” every day, I began to notice that instead of the usual negative, self-deprecating thoughts, I began to feel confident and my anxiety disappeared. So much so that on the way to giving birth to my 5th child, my husband and I talked and felt peaceful, confident and excited to meet our child. Those affirmations made a HUGE difference for me! (I also feel compelled to mention that I was about to undergo induction over the weekend, so I bought the hypnobabies “Baby Come Out!” and my water broke 15 minutes later. I Pretty sure this Hypnobabies thing works!) . You can click HERE to see my affiliate link for Hypnobabies.4. Supplements – there are many that are safe to take while pregnant and I have found that taking Magnesium has helped me a lot. My favorite magnesium supplement, which I have taken for years with great results, is Natural Vitality Natural Calm. I also used Bach’s Rescue Remedy. I am not a doctor or psychiatrist and nothing I write here should be construed as medical advice, so please provide any supplements your doctor uses.5. Always busy and active! I often find that when I exercise, I feel much better in many ways, including my mental health. Gentle, safe prenatal exercises were great for helping me stay calm and focused. Being busy with children, work, and homeschooling makes me not have too much time to focus on negative thoughts.6. Stay away from negativity. This is serious. There are people I know who have terrible stories to share. I want to be a good listener and I’m happy to listen to what they have to say when I’m NOT pregnant. When I was pregnant, I didn’t need to hear that. That’s part of what I mentioned before – I don’t need to get into the habit of practicing negative thoughts, and other people’s terrible stories will certainly perpetuate negative thoughts. For me, a big part of this is staying away from social media, especially Facebook. There will always be scary stories out there, but those stories aren’t yours. Sadly, often the best thing we can do for people in that situation is to pray for them. Focusing on them doesn’t benefit them, OR you or your children. Try to keep a positive attitude and focus on positive things to reduce anxiety.7. Remember what happens next – when I was pregnant, it was easy to get caught up in anxiety and dozens of other crazy thoughts that I forgot about – even after giving birth to 5 kids! – reward at the end. Remember that there is a reason to get pregnant and a reason to have a baby – you are growing up to be a unique, individual person! You’re having a baby! Keeping that in mind will help us pregnant mothers gain some positive perspective. I want to pray for any moms out there who are struggling right now. My heart goes out to you if you’re struggling with anxiety, but remember – pregnancy (and the anxiety and physical problems that come with it) is temporary. It has been a privilege to have these little ones with us for 9 months, even though it can be difficult. Wait there!
