Fortunately, the countless flight companies flying into Schiphol airport tend to increase the prices of flights even during the tulip season, so be sure to book the cheapest tickets first. In the arrivals area, head to the far end where you see the large Starbucks and exit doors next to the Starbucks. Right in front of you is the bus park and you will see the queue and the Keukenhof staff will direct you to the Keukenhof Express – bus number 858.
Visiting Keukenhof From Amsterdam: A Beautiful Tulip Filled Day Trip
You can buy a combiticket for bus and park entry here. Even if you don’t want to go to the Keukenhof Gardens, you can buy bus tickets from here so you can explore the area around Lisse. Keukenhof is surrounded by fields of tulip farms so I used Keukenhof Express to get to the area and rent a bike from Keukenhof car to explore the surrounding area by bike.
The official transit time from the airport to Keukenhof is approximately 30 minutes. But if you’re traveling during peak season, I’d be prepared to double up on this season pass. We went to Keukenhof over the flower weekend and it was also Easter weekend. The traffic entering the Keukenhof park by car was so heavy that traffic backed up for miles on the small one-lane road and almost doubled our time.
Unfortunately (and surprisingly) there is no direct link to Keukenhof from Amsterdam Central Station. I recommend taking the airport express train from Amsterdam Centraal to Schipol Airport then changing at the airport to Keukenhof bus Express 858 as I advised above then following those steps above to Keukenhof. An Airport Express ticket costs 12 Euros (correct at the time of writing).

I would recommend taking the train from Amsterdam Central to Amsterdam RAI and changing to bus 852.
Most websites will recommend taking the 858 bus back to the airport and taking the Express train from there to the city. This is the alternative we used to get from Keukenhof to Amsterdam Central Station.
Take bus 859 from Keukenhof to Hoofddorp station (you can use your Keukenhof bus ticket on bus 859 too, which is why I recommend this option).

During Keukenhof’s opening period, special Keukenhof shuttle buses 858 depart from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. This bus takes you from Amsterdam to the flower park and tulip fields without any fees. There are special combi-bus tickets 858 that save you money and time. The Keukenhof combi-ticket includes an entrance ticket.
There are special combi-tickets where you buy a return bus ticket (there and back) and a Keukenhof ticket. Apart from the price advantage, you don’t have to choose the time of arrival to Keukenhof.
Bus 858 departs from Schiphol Airport every 6 hours. Because of this, you never want to wait for the bus. Book a time slot for bus 858 and you can go on bus 858 60 minutes before and 60 minutes after your time slot. The first time slot is at 7.30 and the last time slot is 18.00. You don’t have to choose a time slot on the return trip, so you can return when you want.
